Chronosphere is excited to join this year’s Learning from Incidents Conference, a forum for sharing stories of incidents, incident handling, and the learnings from software engineers who handle large-scale distributed software systems.
There is no place like production – not local dev or staging or any other pre-prod environment. Paige learned this the hard way after an innocent-looking config change lead to a SEV-1 outage. Learn how she approached sharing the failures and learnings across team and department boundaries, stoking the curiosity of developers, making “the ops stuff” approachable and friendly and releasing shame about being “the human cause” of error.
Paige Cruz is a Senior Developer Advocate at Chronosphere passionate about cultivating sustainable on-call practices and bringing folks their aha moment with observability. She started as a software engineer at New Relic before switching to Site Reliability Engineering holding the pager for InVision, Lightstep, and Weedmaps. Off-the-clock you can find her spinning yarn, swooning over alpacas, or watching trash TV on Bravo.
