Google and Chronosphere don’t look like they have a lot in common, yet, as both are cloud native pioneers, with Google founding Kubernetes and Chronosphere the leader in cloud native observability, both are underdogs on a rapid rise to dominance. Long before new investor GV (Google Ventures) led our series C extension, Chronosphere has partnered closely with Google Cloud. Today, we’re furthering our relationship by announcing a strategic partnership between Google Cloud and Chronosphere that encompasses both go-to-market and engineering initiatives.
Chronosphere + Google = cloud native success
When building our platform, it was important to Chronosphere founders Rob Skillington and Martin Mao to have a cloud native mindset and have our platform support open source telemetry formats like OpenTelemetry and Prometheus. Chronosphere was built on Kubernetes — Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) — so it can scale up and down just like your other cloud native services. Chronosphere is the natural choice for monitoring GKE environments, and as GKE further advanced its functionality with GKE Autopilot, this was an opportunity for us to further strengthen our partnership. GKE Autopilot takes a lot of the legwork and complexity out of managing Kubernetes clusters, saving you time and money. By using Chronosphere and GKE Autopilot together, engineers are more productive by giving them faster and more actionable alerts that they can triage rapidly, and allows them to spend less time on monitoring instrumentation. All while knowing that their clusters are running in a secure, highly available, and optimized manner.
Growing our go-to-market strategy with Google
Last year, we joined the Google Cloud Marketplace, where you can purchase Chronosphere and consume your Google Cloud commitments. Now we’re taking it a step further, with this opportunity to meet in the field and to see how Chronosphere can help meet your cloud native observability strategy needs for Google Cloud. As part of the partnership, we’re planning joint marketing campaigns, sales enablement, and mutual customer success initiatives.
All of this is meaningless, however, if it doesn’t have real positive impacts on customers. Snap Inc. is a long-time user of Google Cloud, and in the last year, expanded its relationship by investing in more Google Cloud technologies.
While Snap had an in-house open source observability tool in place, it wasn’t meeting their needs. Engineers were frequently spending a lot of their bandwidth in their existing observability solution and weren’t meeting their cost management standards. With Chronosphere, they have the desired high availability with Chronosphere’s 99.9% SLA, greatly improving performance and cost optimization with data controls of retention.
